Grizzled Jarl is an epic magic affinity champion from the dwarves faction in Raid Shadow Legends. He is not a very popular champion in general, but is often undervalued by many players. He features a very hard hitting A1, the capability to use AOE decrease atk and offers good utility to those who choose to use him. He is best suited to Clan Boss teams, but can also be useful in Faction Wars, Spider 20 and Ice Golem, where his block debuff ability is particularly effective. In this guide we will take a look at his stats and skills, followed by a build guide for Clan Boss, including mastery selection, stats, gear and strategy.

Grizzled Jarl Clan Boss Build Guide
Grizzled Jarl is a Defense based champion that can place a 1 turn Block Debuffs Buffs on a 3 turn Cooldown when fully booked.
He is one of the few champions that can be efficiently used as a Clan Boss Stun Blocker. Blocking the Clan Boss stun becomes very important when you have a Speed-tuned Clan Boss team and reach Nightmare or Ultra-Nightmare. When a target gets stunned, their skill cooldown will be delayed. This will ruin the rotation on your team if an important champion that needs to use their skill every X turns gets stunned. You only need to book him until his Buff skill is on a 3 turn CD in the late game.
Masteries
This Grizzled Jarl build is featured with the Offense and Defense Tree Masteries. The most important masteries you want on him are the T6 Warmaster and Retribution. He needs Warmaster to deal extra damage to the Clan Boss to lifesteal his HP back. Retribution grants a chance to Counterattack. Grizzled Jarl only places his Block Debuffs for one turn so he needs to go last in your team’s rotation (after your CA champion). This means that he will lose the Counterattack buff for one AOE from clan boss. Retribution gives him a chance to Counterattack and gain some life back.
For Offense tree, take the crit rate, crit damage masteries. Take T6 Warmaster and on the defense tree, take the defense and damage reduction masteries. The masteries below are the miminal masteries you need for Clan Boss.
Gear & Stats Build
The most important stats you want to build on Grizzled Jarl are Speed, Defense, Crit Rate, Crit Damage. You need to have a specific speed in order for him to place his Buffs on the right time. In a standard CA team where your CA champions are at 171 for NM or 191 for UNM, he needs 170 or 190 Speed respectively to be the slowest on the team.
You want to build him with 100% Crit Rate and a reasonable amount of Crit Damage. You want him to be able to hit hard so that he can lifesteal even without the Warmaster procs. Since he loses CA for one AOE, he is vulnerable to dying if he doesn’t heal enough.
You do not need accuracy on him because you don’t want to place his A1 heal reduction. His ATK down is good but he shouldn’t be your primary Atk down champion. This allows you to focus almost exlusively on Defense. Try to use Defense% instead of Speed Boots. This most likely means you will need to have good Speed substats on your gear.
He needs to be in Lifesteal set for a standard CB team. You can use a broken pieces, Speed, or Defense set for you remaining two slots. With this setup Grizzled Jarl can hit extremely well.

Strategy & Tactics
The video demonstrates Grizzled Jarl in a NM Clan Boss run. The CB run needs to be manual for the first two rounds. Only use Grizzled Jarl’s Buff after the 2nd AOE (Before the stun) then the run can be set on auto. The Defence Up buff is also relevant as it boosts the damage of all Defense based heroes in the composition.
Notice that once Grizzled Jarl dies from the stun the run is by and large over. While Grizzled Jarl has negative affinity in this video and hasn’t shown his full potential, he can provide good utility for Clan Boss.
