Deacon Armstrong End Game Build Guide

Deacon Armstrong is an incredibly strong Epic from the Sacred Order. His kit is unique as he fills in many roles at once allowing flexible roles in many team compositions. This guide will feature him Arena, Dungeons and FW.

His A1 places a Leech debuff that is very efficient in dungeons as well as in a Clan Boss setting for additional healing on hits. His A2 places an AOE Decrease Defense on a 3 turn cooldown when fully booked. His A3 fills his allies TM by 15% and decreases enemies TM by 15% and grants an Extra Turn. This Extra Turn mechanic is powerful because his A2 and A3 become 2 turn cooldown skills. It also allows him to be viable in 2:1 Clan Boss teams (other options being Seeker and Mashalled). As a bonus Deacon has a Speed aura for all battles which is a nice ability to have.

Masteries

Due to the short cooldown on his A2, he is used in a Stun set here to provide more Crowd Control. Hence the masteries choices.

If you plan on using him in CB, Offense down to Warmaster and then Defense for all the damage mitigation would be the choice. However, you should check very carefully what speed of every champion in the team compositions is and make sure not to pick any TM boosting masteries in CB teams.

In this guide to take advantage of his gear set, Defense and Support were selected. Defense for damage mitigation down to Fearsome Presence and Support to maximise TM boost, Accuracy and Lore of Steel to boost Speed and Accuracy whenever possible. Eagle Eye is a viable alternative choice if you need to hit a certain Accuracy threshold.

Gear & Stats Build

This Deacon build is using a Stun set for extra control. The secondary set can be Speed, Perception or any broken set, whichever gives the best Speed and Accuracy.

An alternative build for a pure Speed support would be all Speed sets as this is his alternative role as a budget Lyssandra of sorts. Look for as much Accuracy and Speed as possible from the substats. You can even use flat stat for the gloves and chest. Deacon is not too picky about the sets he is using to work properly.

In terms of stats aiming for 250+ Speed and around 350 Accuracy for most PvE content is the benchmark. For Arena you can focus exlusively on speed.

Recommended Main Stats

  • Glove: Any with Speed and/or Accuracy substats
  • Chest: Accuracy/HP%/Def%
  • Boots: Speed
  • Ring: Def/HP
  • Amulet: Def/HP
  • Banner: Accuracy

Refresh accessories work very well on Deacon to maximise his TM control opportunities. Bloodshield might also be good for a Scarab farming team as his extra turns make him outrun the shield.

Deacon Armstrong Arena Build Guide

Arena is one of the core parts of the game. Advancing in tiers and upgrading your Great Hall provides a significant bonus for your champions in all content of the game. For arena offense, speed teams are probably the most common and efficent type when approaching Late Game.

This part of the guide showcases Deacon as a secondary booster and a debuffer for the team. Having a champion like Deacon in your team allows you to be very flexible with team building. You can bring in a Crowd Control champion, another nuker or a buff remover depending on the match up. In this team composition Visix was used to Provoke the enemy

Team Composition

Here, we have a pretty standard speed team:

  • Arbiter: main booster, provides Increase Attack.
  • Deacon: secondary booster, provides Decrease Defense, Stun set provides extra CC.
  • Visix: Provoke.
  • Fenax: Nuker.

As with any speed reliant team without immunity, you should be careful of teams that have Tormin, Valkyrie and/or Hegemon as they can mess up the turn sequence of your team.

Guide to Deacon Dungeon Runs

Deacon Armstrong can find a slot in any dungeon with his versatile kit as he brings 2 important skills with him: AoE Decrease Defense and TM manipulation.

Dragon 20

We will start off with the most popular one – the Dragon’s Lair. Deacon is weak affinity here but can still stay relevant because he is fast enough to get multiple chances to apply Decrease Defense in case of weak hits.

The team showcased focuses on controlling waves and keep the poisoners alive that will then bring down the Dragon when they make it.

Team Composition

  • Deacon: Speed aura, Decrease Defense, TM control, Crowd Control through Stun set.
  • Visix: Crowd Control, TM control, Decrease Speed, Ally Protection.
  • Kael: AoE damage, Poisons.
  • Frozen Banshee: Poisons.
  • Apothecary: TM boost, Speed boost, Healing.

Ice Golem 20

This Ice Golem 20 team relies on Reliquary Tender as a single target reviver. Deacon works here with Visix to keep the waves under control constantly, allowing Coldheart and Fenax to do their job without killing themselves on the Reflect Damage second wave. Fenax also helps with his Block Active Skill and Block Buffs.

Team Composition

  • Deacon: Speed aura, Decrease Defense, CC.
  • Visix: CC, Ally Protection.
  • Fenax: Damage on waves, Block Revive against adds, Block Buffs and Block Active Skill.
  • Coldheart: Damage on waves and against boss.
  • Reliquary Tender: Cleanse and single target Revive.

Spider 20

Spider Den can be a hard dungeon. However, Deacon can work very well with other champions to keep the Spiders from moving. In this team composition he works with Armiger and Visix to provide as much control as possible. The goal is to allow Ultimate Galek to apply as much AoE HP Burn as possible.

Team Composition

  • Deacon: Speed aura, Decrease Defense, TM control.
  • Visix: CC, Ally Protection and TM control.
  • Armiger: TM control and Enemy MAX HP nuke.
  • Ursala: Revive, Increase Defense, Strengthen, Increase Attack.
  • Ultimate galek: AoE HP Burn and TM control.

Fire Knight 20

Fire Knight’s Castle is one of the dungeons where TM control is incredibly strong. Deacon Armstrong provides exactly that and also fills in the role as Decrease Defense, allowing you to bring more wave clear champions.

Team Composition

  • Deacon: 2 hit A1, TM control, Decrease Defense.
  • Stag Knight: 2 hit A1, Decrease Attack and Defense, Decrease Speed.
  • Coldhearts: 4 hit A1, Wave clear, Enemy MAX HP nuke, TM depletion.
  • Skullcrown: Wave clear.

Dragon 25

For Dragon 25 dungeon Deacon is now a favourable affinity and brings Decrease Defense and a Speed aura on top of his TM control capabilities. He works very well with Visix to keep the waves under CC effects due to the stun set equipment.

Team Composition

  • Deacon: Speed aura and Decrease Defense.
  • Fenax: Wave damage.
  • Apothecary: TM and Speed boost + Healing.
  • Visix: CC, Ally Protection.
  • Occult Brawler: Poisons to kill boss.

Fire Knight 25

Stage 25 of Fire Knight has an increased value on the Shield. That means Deacon gained a lot of value as he frees up a spot to make your team building more flexible. Deacon worked with Visix here to keep waves under control and to keep Boss’ TM as low as possible.

Team Composition

  • Deacon: Decrease Defense, TM control, Speed aura, 2 hit A1.
  • Visix: CC, TM control and Ally Protection.
  • Fenax or Seer: Wave clear.
  • Alure: multi hit A1 and TM control.
  • Coldheart: TM control, wave clear and Enemy MAX HP nuke.

Sacred Order Faction Wars

Deacon can be one of the core enablers for the Sacred Order faction wars. His AoE Decrease Defense speeds things up significantly (Venus was the popular choice, but much harder to get) and his TM control helps the team cycle their ability faster. His Leech allows the hard hitters to heal up against boss and the waves.

We will target the Rowan-like add to speed things up at the boss stage. However, auto-runs with Deacon are more than possible with similar compositions on all the crypt stages.

Team Composition

  • Deacon: TM control and Decrease Defense.
  • Fenax: Damage, Block Revive, Block Active Skill, Block Buffs.
  • Armiger: TM control and MAX HP nuke.
  • Cardinal: Revive.
  • Aothar: Poison.
