Suzerain Katonn End Game Build Guide
Suzerain is not considered to be a strong champion but his skill kit has some form of utility, and it’s all AoE. This makes him good in wave based content, in the same way as a Bellower. He is flexible in how he can be played because of this, you can make him more CC oriented in a Stun set, or make him more damage Oriented in Savage, and both will work for Dungeons.
Skills
He doesn’t have amazing book value overall, the biggest thing is getting up to 80% chance to Weaken on his A2. However, if he doesn’t place the Weaken, he will place Decrease Defense instead, so it’s not a waste to skip books on him entirely. It’s only recommended to book him if you have excess books, since he doesn’t gain a lot of value from them.
He has a 33% Attack Aura in all battles, which is nice if you have no other Aura to use.
Masteries
Masteries for Suzerain are flexible and can be built as a CC champion or a nuker. For CC you would want to build him in a stun set and Fearsome Presence as the T6 mastery. He is featured in this guide as a damage dealer, and although he can be a nuker for PvP it isn’t really recommended due to low damage multipliers.
For Offense tree classical masteries were selected similar to most PvE based nukers, going for Warmaster to help with bosses, and all the dps increasing ones along the way such as Heart of Glory and Bring it Down. While for the Defense tree, counter attack masteries are the main ones since we build him for damage, this just helps him push out more, especially with Warmaster. We also select Delay Death and Blastproof just to help keep him alive a bit more since he’s relatively squishy.
Below is a screenshot with all 3 mastery trees, the masteries recommended if you want to take the Support tree are put in a red box, but the Defense and Offense trees are what we are using for this guide, and what are recommended.
Gear & Stats Build
Because we are prioritizing Suzerain as a damage dealer, Attack, Crit Rate/Damage and Speed become important, however, also make sure that he has enough Accuracy to land his debuffs as these can be important.
Main Stats Recommended
- Gloves: Crit Damage
- Body: Attack% or Accuracy if you need it
- Boots: Speed or Attack% if you don’t need Speed
- Ring: Attack
- Amulet: Crit Damage
- Banner: Accuracy
Stats Recommended
- 100% Crit Rate
- Attack = Crit Damage (you want as much as you can of both)
- Speed (200 is a good point to aim for)
- Accuracy – for most PvE content you’ll want around 200-250
Sets Recommended
- Lethal / Savage
- Damage Sets (Cruel, Crit Damage etc…)
- Sets to fill in Stat Gaps (Perception, Speed etc…)
Because all of his abilities are AoE attacks, and we primarily use him in PvE based content, you can also use utility sets to help your teams, for example, he is a good champion for a Stun set if you need more control. Because he is all AoE however, this means outside of Warmaster procs, his damage to bosses is actually pretty low, so you could also opt for a Toxic set if you need more boss damage, this may lower your wave damage a little bit (the poisons are still decent on waves) but provide more stability, for example vs Dragon and his Secret skill (the purple health bar).
Faction Wars Team & Strategy
For Faction Wars 21, Suzerain has a unique way to deal with the Valkyries that can be a real stumbling block there. His A2 has a Decrease Defense attached to it, which means that the Valkyrie’s shields will be significantly lower, and they won’t hit anywhere near as hard. Undead faction is quite limited in the amount of champions they have that can provide this and are accessible.
The second way is that his A3 removes shields. This does not also remove their counter attack Buffs but it does mean they are significantly easier to kill. With those two ways combined the Valkyrie waves are much easier. The only thing you need to keep in mind is that he is squishy, so you will need to bring a revive to make sure you can 3 star this stage.
Team Composition
- Husk – A lot of boss damage and AoE Stun for a bit of control. Undead is lacking in control so this could be a case where you want to use a Stun set on Suzerain if you do not have him, or a legendary like Harvest Jack or Vlad to help control the waves. Suffers from negative affinity vs Spirit Valkyries.
- Bad El Kazar – He provides some poisons to make the waves faster, and is a general support for healing. There isn’t really many debuffs you need to worry about, so someone like Zelotah or Vogoth could fill this role.
- Siphi – She is used here mainly for sleep control on the Valk wave. It is more beneficial to bring Gorgorab in this spot, since this slot is mainly for reviving, and Gorgorabs is team wide, this will make 3* much easier than Siphi’s single revive – This boss will kill champions 1 by 1 so Gorgorab will have more useful revives overall.
- Dark Elhain – DPS and Decrease Speed debuff. She doesn’t really bring much else, since the hard part of this level is the Valk wave, you could bring more control like an Elegaius instead.
Dragon 25 Team & Strategy
Suzerain brings quite a bit of damage for waves, which is why he is good for progression, as well as all the Utility he has. Additionally he is strong Affinity to Dragon 25 so there is no chance of weak hits. Suzerain brings his own Decrease Defense and Weaken, so you can get away with more Support over the Warmaiden in the video. Just be aware that he doesn’t bring both on his A2 will only place one or the other. He will do a decent amount of damage to the waves, and being all AoE allows you to bring a Stun set or Toxic set as well to either control the waves more, or provide a bit of extra damage going into the boss.
Suzerain is a jack of all trades and master of none. He doesn’t deal the most damage but brings a lot of utility, so if you needed a raw damage dealer like Leorius or Trunda, Suzerain isn’t that, but his skill kit allows a lot more flexibility than those type of champions. For this Dragon 25 run, his Aura is used to make things go a little bit quicker, but any Aura you have access to is usable.
Team Composition
- Kael – He is here to nuke waves and drop poisons on the boss. He is negative affinity however so there are many champs much better at this job, Urogrim is extremely nice if you have him to fill this role, since he also brings more support. Taurus is a good option if you can keep him alive.
- Fayne – Mainly here for the permanent Decrease Attack on the Dragon, because the team is so squishy, this is important to keep them alive. The extra poisons are nice as well.
- Scyl – Lots of healing and constant revives play a big role in this teams success. Ursala is really nice as an alternative, and can replace Fayne so you can bring in another healer like Doompriest if you wanted.
- Warmaiden – Mainly AOE Decrease Defense. Suzerain doesn’t always land his Decrease Defense reliably. Any other champion with Decrease Defense works.
