An Energy Potion can be created by mixing a Clean Harralander with a Vial of Water and then adding Chocolate Dust. Each potion provides 67.5 base herblore experience, making it possible to gain around 170,000 base herblore experience per hour. Using this method from levels 26 to 38 herblore, you will need to create 322 Energy Potions.

Between levels 88 and 93 herblore you will gain access to different types of Extreme potions. This includes the Extreme Attack Potion, Extreme Strength Potion, Extreme Defence Potion, Extreme Magic Potion, Extreme Ranging Potion and Extreme Necromancy Potion.
The base experience from each potion is relatively similar from 220 to 265 herblore xp. Therefore, it is recommended to train on whichever option is most cost efficient at the time, after checking current grand exchange prices. Experience rates can range from between 550,000 and 625,000, depending on which type of extreme potion you are making.
Overloads: Levels 96-99+
Overload Potions can be created by mixing a Clean Torstol with all 6 types of Extreme Potion (Extreme Attack Potion, Extreme Strength Potion, Extreme Defence Potion, Extreme Magic Potion, Extreme Ranging Potion and Extreme Necromancy Potion). Each potion provides 1,000 base herblore experience, making it possible to gain upwards of 2,000,000 base herblore experience per hour. Using this method from levels 96 to 99 will require a total of 3,000 overload potions being created.
This remains the fastest herblore training method in the game for level 99, if players are not concerned with costs. However, it’s worth noting, this is a very expensive method and the overloads created become untradeable, so they can not be sold back to minimise costs.
Alternative Herblore Training Methods
Not everyone likes to train herblore with the traditional methods of making potions. In addition to this, not everyone wants to follow the meta or most efficient ways of training. As doing so can often be extremely expensive, which can be unviable for players newer to the game or with smaller amounts of wealth. Below is a list of some viable herblore training methods.
Cleaning Herbs
While herblore is traditionally known as a buyable skill, it doesn’t always have to be. There are some methods that can actually turn a reasonable amount of profit per hour. Which could make it a good way of training the skill for low levels in need of some extra cash.
It is possible to clean around 5,000 herbs per hour with moderate concentration. A properly organized bank with banking presets and the action bar to clean herbs makes this significantly easier. There is a graph of the hourly profits per hour found in the image below, although, ensure you check Grand Exchange prices to ensure this is accurate before starting the process. Hourly experience rates can reach as high as 84,000 base herblore xp/hour.
Prayer potions: level 38-99
Players looking to reduce their costs or even make profit can continue with prayer potions all the way to level 99 or until they want to switch to another method. While the experience rates will be significantly lower, they are still high at 220k xp/hour.
Wilderness Warbands
Wilderness Warbands is a dangerous distraction and diversion in the wilderness, which takes place once every 7 hours. The aim is to loot supplies from an NPCs camp, if you are able to loot herblore supplies then you can receieve herblore experience as a reward.
Up to 25 herblore supplies can be looted per wilderness warband, granting between 1,237.5 and 121,287.5 herblore experience. The times at which wilderness warbands starts each day can be seen in the image below.
Herby Werby
Herby Werby is another Distraction and Diversion that is worth taking part in, this one happens weekly. The aim of this activity is to help the Ancient Zygomites of Anachronia destroy the Corrupted Flora in their Cavern.
To gain herblore experience players will need to take an ancient herb from a zygomite. When doing so between 1 and 4 points are awarded, the herblore experience received is based on the number of points received. A maximum of 100 points can be rewarded weekly.
At certain herblore levels the experience is increased:
- 85 Herblore: 150% experience.
- 95 Herblore: 200% experience.
- 105 Herblore: 250% experience.
- 115 Herblore: 300% experience.
