There are three types of melee weapons in OSRS, these are stab, slash and crush weapons. Each gives high offensive bonuses to its respective style. They can be particularly useful on monsters that are weak to the respective style. For example, the Cerberus slayer boss is weak to crush attacks. 1. Scythe of Vitur
The Scythe of Vitur is the best in slot melee weapon for slash and arguably the most powerful melee weapon in the game. It requires a minimum of level 80 attack and 90 strength to equip. Additionally, the weapon can hit up to 3 enemies at once if they are located in a 1×3 arc around the player. Alternatively, it will hit large targets (2 tiles or bigger) with 3 attacks, the second attack being 50% damage and the third being 25% damage. The three hits are rolled independently.
How to get the Scythe?
The Scythe is obtained as a super rare reward from the Theatre of Blood. It will be obtained in an uncharged version, to charge it take it to one of the Vyre Wells in Morytania and use blood runes and blood vials on it.

2. Blade of Saeldor
The Blade of Saeldor is the strongest one-handed slash weapon in OSRS. It excels for general combat and slayer training scenarios. As these will generally be against smaller monsters (1 tile) where the scythe can not be as effective. Players require a minimum of level 80 attack to wield the blade.
How to get the Blade?
Players will need to complete the gauntlet or corrupted gauntlet until they receive an enhanced weapon seed. This weapon seed can then be crafted into a blade of saeldor (or bofa) for an additional fee of 100 crystal shards with level 82 smithing and crafting. If you do not have the level requirements then Reese or Conwenna will do it for an additional 50 crystal shards.

3. Tentacle Whip
The Tentacle Whip is a strong, degradable, one-handed, slash melee weapon. It requires a minimum of level 75 attack to wield. The Tentacle is an upgraded version of the abyssal whip, offering +8 slash and +4 strength over the regular whip. It also has the potential to poison opponents.
How to get the Tent Whip?
The Tentacle Whip is created by attaching a kraken tentacle to an abyssal whip. The abyssal whip can be obtained from various abyssal monsters and the tentacle from killing the kraken. When combined the whip will receive 10,000 charges. When fully degraded, the tentacle will be returned and the whip lost.

4. Abyssal Whip
The Abyssal Whip is one of the most common slash weapons in OSRS, due to its cheap price, overall strength and how easy it is to obtain. The Whip requires a minimum of level 70 attack to use and will be used by most players for the majority of their mid to high level PVM training and slayer. The weapon is highly versatile and a great option for a variety of different PVM-related content.
How to get the Whip?
There are two methods to obtain an Abyssal Whip. Players can kill Abyssal Demons for a chance of receiving the whip at a rate of 1/512. Alternatively, you can kill the Abyssal Sire for a chance of receiving an unsired at a rate of 1/100, the unsired can then be turned in for rewards, with a whip having a 1/10.6 drop rate from and unsired.

5. Dragon Scimitar
The Dragon Scimitar is another one-handed slash weapon in OSRS, it requires an attack level of 60+. You will also need to have completed the Monkey Madness quest, to use this item in combat. It is most commonly used as a stop-gap between levels 60-70 before unlocking the abyssal whip. However, it is also common for limited account builds, such as pking builds that are limited to 60 attack.

The Dragon Scimitar can be purchased from Daga’s Scimitar Smithy shop for 50,000 coins on Ape Atoll island. You can also obtain it from a variety of other methods including:
